The Director of Operations is responsible for managing and providing strategic guidance to operations and leadership. This position is accountable for all aspects of site operations. Supervisory Responsibilities • Participates in the hiring and training of department team members. • Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departments/managers. • Conducts performance evaluations timely and ensures they are constructive. • Handles discipline and termination of direct reports as needed and in accordance with company policies and procedures. • Produces strategic annual, quarterly and monthly plans and holds departments accountable. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Communicates and explains new directives, policies and/or procedures to managers/team members; meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale. • Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to VP; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk as well as ensuring a safe work environment (including termination of the project if appropriate). • Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement. • Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates operations and processes within logistics, warehouse, procurement, and customer service. • Ensures ERP system is functional and compatible with other software functions. • Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each department to achieve financial objectives. • Purchases supplies, materials, and parts for each subsidiary and ensures purchase is cost effective. • Develops and maintains inventory databases for supplies, materials and products needed for each subsidiary. • Negotiates and completes contracts with vendors for optimal cost and delivery times. • Reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with subsidiary policies. • Collaborates with sales, customer service, warehousing, and logistics to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory controls. • Communicates with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale. • Plans, develops, and communicates operations’ goals ensuring each team member is meeting department goals as well as individual goals set by management and all goals are updated in corresponding software. • Leads, attends and participates in regularly scheduled meetings. • Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Skills/Experiences • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and customer service skills. • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers. • Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to meet deadlines. • Able to compile and scrutinize business data. Exhibits strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Familiar with business data software systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) and capable of administering such systems. • Familiar with business financials and making decisions based on business financial data. • Experience with project scoping and project management • Ability to make significant decisions efficiently and communicate decisions to the team effectively. • Not required but desired to have at least 2 years of experience in leading a team. • Not required but desired to have a bachelor's in business, Finance, Accounting or equivalent. Physical Requirements • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds multiple times in one period. • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
